唐苏勤副教授与哀伤咨询师刘新宪负责撰写该书第十四章“Dealing with bereavement following a drug-related death in China”。

Drug-related deaths (DRDs) are rife with negative social stigmas, and those left behind often carry a heavy emotional burden laden with shame and guilt. Many DRDs in China do not even have a funeral or ritual due to internal and external pressures, which could significantly increase the risk of psychiatric morbidity in bereaved people. DRD-bereaved people need more social attention and psychological support. In this chapter, we first provide information to better understand the experience of DRD bereavement in China. We then identify an innovative bereavement intervention method, the “Be Together Programme” (BTP), which was previously used to support bereaved people in Wuhan during the COVID-19 breakout in the spring of 2020. The BTP is a psychosocial intervention utilizing the Dual Process Model framework while introducing multiple new approaches that take into account Chinese culture and context. The BTP was the first evidence-based bereavement intervention with effective results in China. It also may serve as a bereavement intervention protocol to provide the social support and psychological services that drug-death-bereaved people need.
